AVAILABILITY OF GRANTS AND SCHOLARSHIPS

A range of scholarships and bursaries are usually available to teachers and others from the UK, the EU and from further afield (depending on qualifying circumstances). These include the following:

UoS School of Education Postgraduate Scholarships
A number of full and partial scholarships for research programmes are usually available for either full-time or part-time study. Competition for such awards is quite fierce. The deadline is usually in February each year (and sometimes much earlier). Click here for details.

Overseas Research Studentship Awards
Overseas Research Studentship (ORS) awards meet the difference between the UK postgraduate tuition fee and the full cost overseas fee. Candidates' living expenses, travel and the UK fee must be met from other sources. A range of conditions attach to the ORS Awards Scheme. Competition for such awards is quite fierce. The deadline is usually in January. Click here for details.

UK Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) Research Studentships
ESRC studentships can cover fees, maintenance, dependants' allowances and other expenses, depending on the student's situation, circumstances and type of award. The ESRC scholarships can be supplemented with other types of funding or grants where the Award does not meet the necessary requirements. A range of conditions attach to the ESRC awards scheme. Competition for such awards is quite fierce. The deadline is usually 1 May. Click here for details.

UoS School of Education Bursaries
For taught courses, the School of Education is pleased to be able to offer a variety of subsidies for UK students undertaking PCES, Masters, or EdD programmes. For details, click here.
